Community Engagement
Developing stronger partnerships through community participation and parent involvement
Learning Inspired by Community
The Village School Gold Coast is the newest and smallest independent primary school on the Gold Coast, uniquely nestled in the vibrant heart of Coolangatta’s bustling streets. Without a dedicated green space on site, our entire school community steps outside daily for adventures that transform the surrounding local environment into an extraordinary classroom.
Community
Together, students and teachers explore beaches, parks, and rivers, climb trees, go bouldering, and hop across rocks. Along the way, they practice pavement etiquette, learn how to engage safely and respectfully with their community, and participate in caring for their environment by picking up rubbish. We encourage courageous, imaginative play — helping children build confidence through managed risk-taking.
Community
Our connection to the community goes beyond daily exploration. We actively participate in Clean Up Australia events, showing students the power of collective action to care for their environment. Our students create heartfelt cards for residents of aged care facilities, nurturing empathy and intergenerational connection.

We enjoy visits to local gems like the Coolangatta Gold Coast City Library and take behind-the-scenes trips to places like Woolworths to learn how everyday businesses work. Physical activity and sports are a big part of our community engagement, with fun sessions like lawn bowls at the Coolangatta Lawn Bowls Club, beach rugby and Oz-tag on Coolangatta Beach, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at a nearby BJJ studio.
Community
Parents play an active role in our school community, joining weekly Village meetings to collaborate and share ideas. Many contribute through volunteering, supporting classroom activities, excursions, and events. We also host regular showcases where families come together to celebrate and engage with their children’s learning journeys.

To further strengthen our community ties, we host fortnightly coffee and chat sessions for parents and staff at the café across the road, creating space for open conversation, collaboration, and shared support.

At The Village School, our daily goal is simple but powerful: to educate beyond classroom walls, changing the face of learning by fostering authentic connections between our students, their families, and the wider community
